Then exploit the captain's fear and use it to catch him. Or you could finish Gollum's "The One Ring" quest which will give you Shadow Strike. If you're chasing a captain, make sure you hold down the Grab / Interact button on what ever you're playing and when you get within range you will do a leaping tackle. You just have to fight him once, then find him on the map and grab him again. After you reach the Sea of Nurnen and learn the Brand ability, you can use the same captain to Death Threat all the war chiefs. Some captains will be easier to Dominate then others, so you may want to do some hunting. You can use any captain to Death Threat a war chief, but when you let them go you will have to fight them again. Don't kill any captains until you Death Threat the war chiefs, just Dominate them. After you finish "Climbing the Ranks" with Ratbag, use it on the war chiefs as well. If any new captains appear use it on them. If your lucky most of the power struggles will spawn close to towers.Īfter you finish your ability tree should look like this:Īs soon as you have Death Threat use it on the captains. If you concentrate on running directly to all the power struggles, and ignoring everything else, opening four tiers and obtaining Death Threat should take about 45 minutes. Any level Keen Eyed will give you unlimited focus as long as you continue to kill quickly with the bow unseen. If you can manage to get a Keen Eyed rune early in the game, it will be a big help. A vengeance quest will take more time, but if you complete it with the special objective you will get around 15 power points, a rune, and 50 mirian. This does not include power struggles in which you "receive a special reward." Those are one time quests that always give an epic rune and are available when the game begins if you have them.
After you aquire the Death Threat ability, you can come back and do the power struggle quests if you wish, they will repeat. After you run out of the area the quest will resolve, then fast travel to any tower and more power struggles will be available. Each time you will be rewarded 40 power points. You can open up tiers as fast as possible by starting a Power Struggle quest and running away. This is done by completing the Power Struggle quests, so focus on them. As soon as you finish the "Spirit of Mordor" quest with Ratbag, you must concentrate on reaching tier four and opening Death Threat. You can progress through the game in any way you like with one exception. Try not to leave more then two empty spots without advancing time. If you clear an area of captains for a quest advance time until their spots are filled and Death Threat the new captains. The higher the level of the captains and war chiefs, the higher the level of the reward. No matter how much you die, the mobs will never become too difficult to kill.
